Monster Eyeball Cake Pops

Monster Eyeball Cake Pops consist of moist cake crumbled into sticky frosting to form a dough, which is then shaped into round balls. These balls are chilled, dipped in melted chocolate, and decorated with candy eyes to create creepy, eyeball-like treats with a smooth, shiny coating and playful appearance.

Ingredients

  • 1 box store-bought cake (e.g., vanilla or chocolate) baked and cooled
  • 1/2 cup frosting store-bought or homemade, for binding
  • 2 cups melting chocolate or candy melts for dipping
  • 12 pieces candy eyes for decoration

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave or double boiler
  • Toothpicks or cake pop sticks
  • Dipping aid or styrofoam block

Method

  1. Crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the frosting gradually to the crumbs, mixing well until the mixture becomes sticky and holds together when pressed.
  3. Roll the mixture into evenly-sized balls, about the size of a golf ball, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Refrigerate the cake balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up, making them easier to dip.
  5. While the cake balls chill, melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in short bursts or using a double boiler, stirring until smooth and shiny.
  6. Insert a toothpick or cake pop stick into each chilled cake ball, then dip each into the melted chocolate, twisting gently to cover completely and letting excess drip off.
  7. Place the coated cake pops into a styrofoam block or Dipping aid to stand upright and set until the chocolate hardens, about 15 minutes.
  8. Once the chocolate is firm, carefully attach a candy eye to each cake pop to resemble a creepy eyeball.
  9. Optional: Use additional melted chocolate to add details or create more realistic eyeballs, if desired.
  10. Once decorated, place the Monster Eyeball Cake Pops into a display stand or serve them directly on a platter.

Notes

Make sure to chill the cake balls thoroughly before dipping to prevent cracking. Use high-quality melting chocolate for a smooth coating and vibrant decoration. Feel free to customize eyeball expressions or add extra spooky details with colored icing or edible shimmer.
