Ingredients

  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley optional for coating
  • 20 pretzels pretzel sticks for spider legs

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife
  • Pretzel Sticks

Method

  1. Place softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar into a mixing bowl, then use a spatula or spoon to mix until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into a tight ball with your hands, pressing firmly to ensure it holds together. Wrap it loosely in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to firm up.
  3. Once chilled, remove the cheese ball from refrigeration and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Gently press chopped parsley onto the surface to add a festive touch and aroma.
  4. Break the pretzel sticks in half or leave them whole if preferred, then carefully insert them into the cheese ball around the top to resemble spider legs. Adjust the position as needed for a balanced, spidery look.
  5. Arrange the completed cheese ball with legs on a serving platter. Optional: add additional parsley or herbs around the base for a spooky effect.
  6. Serve immediately with crackers or sliced baguette for dipping, or refrigerate until ready to present at your Halloween gathering.

Notes

For extra creepiness, you can add small googly eyes to the cheese ball before adding the legs. Ensure the cheese is well chilled to make handling easier. If legs break off, reattach with a dab of melted cheese.
